Bigger Battery Rebate Until 31 December 2026

Government Battery RebatesSave Around 30% on Battery Storage

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes around 30% off an eligible home or small-business battery, in every state and territory. The discount gets smaller on 1 January 2027, and again every six months after that, so the sooner your battery is installed, the more you save.

A $7.2 Billion Federal Battery Program

Since 1 July 2025 the federal government has discounted home and small-business batteries, paid per kWh of usable capacity and taken straight off your quote. The discount falls every six months until the program ends in 2030.

  • Around 30% Off

The full discount applies to the first 14 kWh, 60% of it from 14 to 28 kWh, and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh of usable capacity.

  • Lower Evening Bills

Store the solar you make during the day and use it in the evening, when power costs the most.

Use more of your own solar

  • Backup in a Blackout

With a backup-ready inverter and circuits, keep the lights, fridge and internet running when the grid goes down.

  • Sized to Your Home

The average new home battery was 26.6 kWh in June 2026. We size yours to your bills and to the rebate's tiers.

Rebates by State

The federal discount applies everywhere. Here is what your state or territory adds, as of October 2026.

  • ACT

No ACT battery rebate since the Next Gen program closed in 2023. The Sustainable Household Scheme lends $2,000 to $20,000 at 3%, over up to 10 years.

    Loans at 3%

  • NSW

A one-off payment for connecting your battery to a Virtual Power Plant, and Home Energy Saver interest-free loans of up to $15,000.

  • QLD

No state battery rebate. In South East Queensland, the Solar Sharer Offer gives eligible homes three free hours of power at midday — ideal for charging a battery.

  • VIC

No state battery rebate. The Solar Homes rebate of up to $1,400 still applies to solar panels for households under its income cap.

Why a Battery

A battery lets you keep the solar you make, use it when power is dearest, and keep going when the grid doesn't.

  • Lower Bills

Use your own stored solar in the evening instead of buying power at peak rates.

  • Blackout Backup

With a backup-ready system, keep essential appliances running during an outage.

  • Keep Your Solar

Store what you make instead of selling it back to the grid for a few cents.

  • Earn From the Grid

Join a Virtual Power Plant and get paid when your battery helps the grid at busy times.

  • Cleaner Evenings

Run your home on your own solar after dark, rather than on power from the grid.

  • Ready for What's Next

Add panels, an EV charger or a second battery later — we design for it from the start.
